Film It!
A Citywide Mini-Movie Challenge
Film It! is open to all D65 students and Evanston residents starting 5th – 8th Grades in the Fall 2024.
The rules are simple – create a short movie (we recommend using iMovie) that is 2 – 3 minutes long. Your film must include at least FIVE filmmaking elements.
Make your film something fun, interesting, about you, or whatever! Interview your grandparent, make a stop-motion video with objects, create a TikTok style dance, or a how-to tutorial on something you want to show others. It’s up to you!
No experience is required
Never used iMovie or made a movie before? We have you covered: just check out our Resources. We have workshops on Filmmaking 101, Special Effects, Animation, and more, as well as drop-in help sessions where you can get one-on-one feedback and help on your movie along the way. There are also tons of tutorials to assist you in your filmmaking process, with topics include editing, sound effects, using green screens, and more. You can find a list of filmmaking equipment you can borrow from the library, as well as other usage-free tools like stock footage, music, special effects, and more!
Submit your movie and earn a chance to win prizes.
Submit your movie by Sunday, July 7th and you will be entered into the challenge prize raffle. The more filmmaking elements you include, the better your chances at winning.
We will draw raffle winners and premier all movies on July 11th location TBA.
